Saving Infopath (xml) files to CD

DR

I created a website on an internal server for IT Disaster Recovery. In the
web, there are links to infopath files (.xml) that are saved in folders in
the website. When I try to burn the website to a CD to distribute to other IT
Admins - it still references the templates on the server and you can't open
the .xml files. I even tried saving the templates on the CD as well - but
all the Infopath references are for the templates on the server. Anyone have
advice on this?

The best thing for you to do in your situation is to make an installable form template (an .msi file). Those receiving the CD will either have already installed the template or will do so from teh CD. The forms (.xml files) made from the installed template will be looking for a URN instead of a URL -- meaning they'll be looking for the unique identifyer of the installed form template, rather than looking for a specific location where the form is installed.

Without this, every person needs to have the form template installed to the exact same location (i.e. C:\MyFormTemplateLocation). That location is saved as part of the .xml file. That's why an installable (.msi) form tempalte is better for your situation.
