Saving jpg to Iphoto

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) How do I save jpg files sent to me in an attachment directly to iphoto. I have tried to drag them over, but doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong? thanks....
