Saving Normal Template

I have changed the default font in Word but when I close Word it gives me an
error message that I cannot save the normal template because it is "read
only". (I have Acrobat 8.0 installed if that makes any difference).

How can I correct this problem and save the default font as well as avoid
the error message on the global template when I close Word?

Yes, having Adobe installed does make a difference - their PDFMaker add-in
is notorious for causing issues and recently with Normal.dot. The best way
to
accomplish what you want to do, and so that it doesn't interfere with other
things, such as changing a few of you personal setting each time Word
starts, or discarding all changes you make to Normal.dot, is to remove the
PDFMaker add-in.
