Saving part of file

After I filter I save, what I thought I was saving was just the result
of the filter.
But the new saved file is the same size as the original file, huge.
I will need to filter and need to save many such filtered projects. But
if each is the original size I cannot do.
So, how to save just the filtered data?

I thought I'd posted this before, but I looked a "Unread" and did not
see my post, so I must of not sent.

XL only saves workbooks, and filters never destroy data, so you're right
that the size won't be reduced. One solution would be to copy the
visible data to a new workbook. If you're talking about an autofilter:

Select the filtered area. Choose Edit/Go To.../Special, and select
the "Visible cell only" radio button. Click OK.

Copy the selected range, open a new workbook and paste the data into the
new workbook.

You can record a macro (Tools/Macro/Record new macro...) to do this
automatically. Post back if you have trouble, or need help modifying the
macro.

If instead you're talking about an advanced filter, you can instead just
save the data to a new worksheet and move the worksheet to a new
workbook (Edit/Move or Copy Sheet...). Again, you can record a macro to
automate this.
