saving portion of drawing as .jpg

I have made several .vst files for other to use as aids for diagraming
traffic accident sites. The user uses the .vst to complete a diagram for
pasting to an accident report form. (One form has a 3.5"H x 8.5"W block, the
other is 6"H x 8.5"W for placing the diagram.) When the diagram is saved as a
..jpg or .gif the entire diagram is saved as such. Is there a way to select
only a portion of the diagram to save? Any help is appreciated.

If you select the shapes you want in the image and the do your SaveAs
gif or jpg the the image will contain only that area. But the area
will be cropped to show only those shapes with no margin.
There are many free tools which will allow you to crop images to any
size you want.

This works somewhat. I have a North area that, even though selected, is only
partially saved. And I have numerous diagrams that are substantially larger
than the printer page so I have grouped all objects allowing users to
click-and-drag the drawing to the area they desire.
Is there any way to, even programatically, to set a size to save?
Thanks for your help.
