When I save a file at first it works but when I make
changes and press save, it says "word cannot complete save

Tell us the Word & Windows versions, what service packs have been applied,
and whether this is being saved to a local hard-drive or over a network.

Probably it is Norton Anti Virus. Open NAV and disable the Office Plug-in.
It won't compromise your security.
