Saving projects in Project Server always get published.

Hi Everyone,

I need a little help here. We have a project server in our company that was
already installed when i came in and was asked to administer.

Well here's the problem: whenever someone created a project (using MS Proj.
Pro and connected to the server) and Save it in Project Server, the project
is always displayed in the Project Center in PWA. I am sure that i just save
it and did not do Collaborate->Publish... I tried recreating the problem in
two other "test Project Server" deployment but unable to recreate the problem.

Can this behavior (auto-publish?) be disabled.

Server Specs:
Windows Server 2003 w/ latest SP
Project Server w/ SP1

Project Professional w/ SP1

Thanks a lot!

Hi Eric,

Yes it can, open Project Professional > under Tools > Options > TAB
Collaborate, you can decide the "On every Save, publish the following
inforamtion to Project Server"
If you disable these options, your resource will need to publish the project
via the "publish" button.
I hope this helps

Well that worked perfectly fine. I've checked and both checkboxes are blank.
i tried saving a test project (P1) today and it worked perfectly however i am
sure that i did not change those settings when i saved 6 project two days ago.

Thanks Marc!

but i got another problem and this is an old one:

I always encounter this whenever i publish a project (see pic url below)

I've seen an MS article about it and the have a hotfix of sort but they said
that it is best to wait for an SP release if the problem is not that
critical. The problem is the manager in the office are bugging me about this
problem. I cannot duplicate this problem on a test server with the same
specs(SP and hotfixes) of the main server. I was thinking that maybe the
installation on the main server is not done properly ( i did not install it).

Thanks Again.

Hi Eric,

I believe that this spooler error is security related. I have encountered
this problem when the connection URL in Project Professional ( Tools >
Enterprise Option > Microsoft Office Project Server Accounts) is not exaclty
the same then the URL that you use when accessing Project Web Access.

I would check the URL of the Project Managers using Project Professional and
would enter the URL (e.g. http://porjectserver.something.com/projectserver)
exactly the same way then when using the PWA URL. I hope this helps

Eric:

When you get the spooler errors, there should be some corresponding errors
generated in the server application event log. These would be helpful.
