Saving Reports in MSP98

Can I save REPORTS generated in MS Project 98? MSP 98
allows me to print reports directly to a printer, however
I would like to send out soft copy of reports (html, xls
or any other format) to my team. Is there any way I can
get this done? If this is not possible using MSP98, are
there any 3rd party tools that I can use to do this?

Thanks in advance,
Vinod

The best way to do this is create Adobe PDF copies of the output. Do
this with Adobe Acrobat www.adobe.com/acrobat (which you must buy),
Ghostscript http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/ (which is free), or any of a
number of othese free or commercial Adobe PDF file creators. Get more
ideas from http://www.planetpdf.com/

Your readers need Adobe Reader to view the files, but that's probably
already installed on their computers and if not, they can get it free
from www.adobe.com

Vinod,
Rob's suggestion is good but as he said, you will have to buy the "front
end" side of Adobe in order to create a PDF file. There are also ways to
create soft copies of the reports directly from Project without buying
any additional software. Depending on the type of data and the format
desired, you may be able to use an export table to transfer the data
from Project to Excel and then distribute the Excel spreadsheet. Look in
the help file under "exporting data to other applications". If the data
is timescaled, you might also try using the "anlayze timescaled data in
Excel" macro that is on the "Analyze" toolbar. A third option that is a
little more advanced but will automate any type of report you desire.
Develope a custom VBA macro that exports the necessary data to Excel,
Powerpoint or Word and formats it into the report. I have used this
approach many times for both myself and for clients.

Hope this helps.

Get a tool that allows you to print it to a PDF (Adobe Acrobat file). Adobe
sells one and there is one available on the web based on Ghostscript, but
its not that easy to set up and there's no support for it.

Dave,

I recall that Ghostscript was pretty easy to install (standard Windows
Install). Then all that's required is to output from Project in
PostScript format and run that *.ps file through the ps2pdf program
provided by Ghoscript. To output to PostScript file, create a PostScript
printer (pick one of the HP or Apple Printers commonly available in
Windows) and direct it's output to FILE:

No more complicated than that.

We put Ghostscript on a print server. We print to this LAN printer
(configured as a PostScript printer the PostScript file to this printer
share. The server uses Ghostscript to convert the output into PDF which
is then emailed back to the user for them to do what they want with it.

Free. Fast. Easy.

I still have/use/advocate Adobe Acrobat ... but Ghostscript is pretty
simple and does the job. For free.
