saving sent emails in a folder

When responding to an email I need the option to save my sent message in a
specific folder. For instance, when responding and I select "Send" is there
an option that will come up and ask me If I would like to save a copy to one
of my existing folders.

I had this option when I previously used Lotus Notes it was an awesome tool
as it was easy back to locate later if needed.

Outlook has no built-in feature to designate the save folder when you send a message, but you can add that capability with a little VBA code. The sample at http://www.outlookcode.com/d/code/setsavefolder.htm would apply if you always want to save the item in a folder in your default store (Exchange mailbox or Personal Folders .pst file).

Which version of Outlook?
Outlook 2007 has that ability to save your reply in another folder via
Options ribbon, More Options chunk , Save Sent item button. I can't check
with Outlook 2003 or earlier versions just now but it is definitely there
with Outlook 2007.
You dont' get a prompt to do it so it takes remembering where you want to
save it.
