Saving Text Files

I work from my home and the documents that I create in Word need to be saved as a txt document. When asked about the file conversion I select the western (ASCII). When doing this is changes all of my apostrophes in the document to question marks.

Help??

I am working with people that are using a wide range of software and they need to be able to open this text file with everything correct in it.

Thanks,
Beth

Try selecting the Unicode UTF-8 encoding instead of ASCII. I think
smart apostrophes may not be included in ASCII.

Alternatively, don't use smart apostrophes (the ones that tilt “ like so
instead of straight like so "--or I guess ‘ versus ' ). Word creates
them automatically, which you can turn off in Tools | AutoCorrect |
AutoFormat as you Type.

Additional to Daiya's comments: Have you considered just doing the documents
in TextEdit (or other text editor) rather than Word in the first place? If
you have & determined that there is good reason to use Word you might also
consider avoiding most of the newer fonts. Stick with Helvetica or Times New
Roman... and consider turning off just about *everything* in the AutoFormat
As You Type dialog.
