saving text from a fillable form document

This site has been great in helping me build a fillable form that then
completes a number of different documents I need. It has worked well with
printing the forms I need. I have not been able to find any posts that help
me solve my newest problem. I need a macro to create a text only document
(which will preserve the formatting of the original), containing different
sections of my document completed using references to information in the
fillable form, if then statements, etc, so that I can give this text file to
someone else to proof and finish the document. I plan to bookmark the
different sections I want saved in a text document (e.g., section 1 and 2 or
section 1 and 3). My attempts to save part of the document has always saved
the fields with the text. I want the info in the field without the field. I
don't find a way to do this using the save method. Can anyone please offer
any leads on how to do this? Thank you.

If you actually mean what I take a "text document" to be, you will NOT be
able to "preserve the formatting of the original".

If you want the info in the field without the field, unprotect the document,
then use Ctrl-A to select everything and then Ctrl+Shift+F9 to unlink the
formfields. Maybe that is what you mean by "create a text only document"

I am not sure of the logic of your work process however.

Dear Doug Robbins,
Thank you for your elegant solution to my problem. FYI, one of the things
my fillable form completes is a court petition, which the lawyer has to
finalize for court. I had split off petition, which remained as a smaller
fillable form and which was impossible for our lawyer to work on. I would
love to hear of other ways I could have accomplished this. I'm open to
improving my skills.

Thanks again.

Can you explain what you mean by "which was impossible for our lawyer to
work on." Was it a function of the document or the lawyer? <g>
