saving the .doc formatting

How can I save the original formatting of a .doc so no
matter where/on what computer I open it (same OS of
course) it will be formatted exactly as i saved it...not
using the defaults that are set up on the computer itself?

save it as a template onto the server. File, Save As,
change document type to Template and store in the correct
location on the server (to find the right place search for
*.dot)

Open Word and then File, New and choose your template

The only way to guarantee this is to convert it to a PDF. But see
