Saving vCards directly into contacts folder

Dear all

Sorry if this is an obvious question - I have checked usenet for an
answer but with no success.

When I receive a vCard as an attachment, I double-click on it to open
it up and then click on 'save and close' to save it into my contacts
folder. This appears to work fine (no errors) but when I go to my
contacts folder, the new contact is not listed.

I am using Outlook 2000 on W2K. Any ideas gratefully received.

In Windows Explorer, check to see what has been set as the default
handler for vCards on your system.

Thanks Brendan - Outlook is set up as the default handler. Any other

A less likely possibility is that you have perhaps inadvertently
defined a View or filter on the contacts folder such that the card
exists, but simply can't be seen given your current view.

You could also try a little experiment with the next vCard you want to
add. Try importing it, rather than double clicking on the file, just
to see if that makes any difference. It shouldn't, but who knows?

On the File menu, click Import And Export.
Click to select "Import a vCard file (*.vcf)" then click Next.
Click to select the vCard file, and then click Open.

Hi Brendan

I have checked the views and I can't see anything unusual. However, I
did take your advice and I imported the vcard after saving it to my
desktop and it worked fine.

Any ideas why this method should work while the 'save and close'
option doesn't.
