Saving web pages in Word 2004 for Mac

When modifying web pages I've authored in Word 2004 for Mac, two
strange things are happening.

First, sometimes it changes my type fonts (from Verdana to Times Roman)
in certain places when I edit and then save and close a page. There
appears to be little ryhme or reason to which lines get changed.

Second, if I go back to the document and fix it, I get an error message
saying "A file error has occurred. Check your network connections or
make sure the disk is properly inserted and not defective." It won't
let me close the web page document until I go back and undo any
corrections I made.

I'm using a six month old Power Mac G5, and I've done nothing custom to
it. Word is part of an equally new edition of Office 2004. I updated to
Word 11.1.1 and the problem still exists. Every other kind of document
I create in Word has no such difficulties.

I'm stuck with deformed looking web pages on my site and no way to fix
them. Help.

Many thanks,

Bruce

Are you editing the remote copy of the document? Try editing a copy
stored on your local HD. If that works, you may not have permissions set
to allow you to save directly to the remote drive.

I agree. If your doing any serious Webdesign. Get MacroMedia DreamWaever
(soon to be adobe DreamWeaver after Macromedia gave itself to Adobe).

In fact one item in DreamWeaver's menu choices is Fix Microst Word HTML.
remove all strange characters that word adds.
Certainly you have a way to fix them. Web pages are just text. Use any
text editor to edit them. TextWrangler is a good free choice. m.

If it's "fixed", don't "break it"!
