Saving Word document as PDF

J

JP

I have a 350kb Word Document. It has a grayscale 300kb jpeg image in the
document. When I go to Print and choose save as PDF the resulting file
size is 1.2MB. Why is this happening and what can I do about it?

All I can think of is that the image is being rasterized as an RGB image
instead of Grayscale.

Thanks for any ideas.

The destination is an email so it should be a smaller file size.

You can alter the PDF compression settings in the Mac OS X ColorSync
utility of all places. I think you make a new filter. It was written up
recently in a MacWorld article. I think it was May in the UK version.

Hello:

I¹m having the same situation. Did you ever figure out a soluton to the huge
PDF¹s from MS Word? I couldn¹t find anything in Colorsync on Jaguar 10.2.8.

Thanks
