saving word document

Claudine

How can you save a word document in a specific folder like:

Hard disk /agreements/mutual/terretorialagreement.doc

It allows only going to your hard disk or documents folder,
you cannot go further in to an other folder.

Thanks for your help

Hi Claudine,

What is your version of Word and your OS? Have you fully updated both?

You *should* be able to save to any folder you wish. When you open the Save
or Save As dialog, the save location (in current versions of Word) will be
the last folder you saved to. The default save location is the desktop.
However you can change the location by navigating to whatever folder you
like. Is this not working for you or do you not know how to do it? More
details would help.

The other way to file a document, of course, is to save it to the desktop
and then move it later.

As in any OS X application, if the "Save" dialog is showing in short form
and you want to navigate to somewhere other than what's showing. click the
little down-arrow next to the "Save As:" file-name box (the upper box). It
will expand into a full column-type file browser with a scroller at the
bottom so you can go (leftwards) up the folder hierarchy as far as you need
to - all the way to your disk(s) if need be. It's just like column view in
the Finder.

Furthermore, if you leave it expanded like that, it will open in Word the
next time in expanded view. The short view is handy just if you always go to
the same folder every time (or to a "favorite" which expands when you click
the arrow on that second, folder, line.)

It's the same thing in every application on your computer: this is the Mac
OS X "Save" dialog.

In the Save dialog, click on the blue arrow next to the doc title (I think
that's where it is). It will expand the dialog and give you a beautifully
laid-out way to access your entire drive.
