saving Word files OSX.3 -hidden entry points

Specifically, the instruction "save as" presents a screen where the
document name slot is hidden behind the toolbars at the top of the
screen.
Also a general difficulty in keeping the scroll bars visible on screen,
amongst other teething problems such as an uninvited split Word
document ).
