Saving wordpad document to Microsoft Word

Somehow a document got saved in wordpad and now I cannot
save to Word. It is not an option given to me. I have
tried everything I know how to do and still cannot save
the document in word so that I can spell check and virus
check before e-mailing the document.

What do I do?

Word should be able to read any WordPad file without a
problem. In Word, simply use File>Open and navigate to the
file in question.
