When I save my 100 page document at say page 50 and then close it and
re-open it, it always goes back to the beginning. Is there any way to have
it open where you saved it last?

When you reopen it, press Shift+F5 (the shortcut for the GoBack command).

If it doesn't work in Word 2000 through 2003, then you may need the macro from
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/GoBackFix.htm.

Even with the macro, it won't work in Word 2007, which doesn't save the bookmark
used in the command. However, you could set your own bookmark before closing and
go to it on reopening.
