sberet.msi file required for security patch

Otto

When attempting to install Office XP Version 2002 SP2
updates per Office Update, I am prompted to insert my
Office XP Small Business Disk in order to access
sberet.msi. As I only have a CD for Office XP it can not
locate the necessary file.

The specific updates I am having trouble with are:
Word 2002 SP2 KB830346
Excel 2002 SP2 KB830350

Hi Otto,

Office XP consists of '2002 version' applications, such
as Word 2002, Excel 2002.

Check in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel
to see what edition of Microsoft Office is installed on
your PC. If the CD you have does not match that you
can contact the PC supplier (if it was installed with the
PC) to get the correct CD or you can backup your files,
uninstall that edition, restart the PC and then install
the CD edition you do have.

MS Office XP Small Business Edition would be the most
common package that was preinstalled on new PCs prior
to October 2003.

Thanks for the reply Bob. My first move was to call Dell
asking for the Office XP Small Business CD versus the
Version 2002. They directed me to Microsoft.

Maybe I need to make another call to Dell to see if I get
a different answer? I would prefer to get the correct CD
from Dell versus uninstalling and reinstalling.

Any additional insight or suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks!

I am having a similiar problem. My hp pavilion 7905 came loaded with office small business, about 2 years ago. I did not get and of the CDs. Several months ago I started getting the error message that it could not find sberet.msi when I tried to open Office or when I booted up. If I cancel the error message then Office opens up ok. I would like to get rid of this annoying error mesasge. What is the solution to this problem? Thanks
