SBERET.MSI where are you?

K

Ken Isaacson

I have OfficeXP, and when trying to open a Corel WordPerfect document in
Word, I'm told I have to install a converter. I say "yes" I want to, and
I'm told to Insert the Office XP Small Business Disk. Then I'm told that
the 'puter can't find "SBERET.MSI"

Well, neither can I. I've searched the whole disk, and it's not there.

(Question: I'm told to insert the "XP Small Business" disk. I have Office
XP Professional. I don't know if "small business" is applicable, and I
don't know if that's relevant.)

Help?

Thanks.
Ken

Hi Ken,

Did Office XP come pre-installed? If so then it sounds like the OEM
'recycled' a *.msi file. :)

In any event, this can be caused by several things, but to correct it
you will need to zap the Windows Installer entry in the Registry and
reinstall Office.

Obtain the following utility and use it to remove only the reference
to Office. Once that is complete then you'll need to reinstall Office
to point the Windows Installer to your installation CD:
