Scale symbol - not useable?

anyone get the scale symbol (on the annotation shape sheet) to make sense. I
have a page wtih a scale at 1/4" = 1'-0". I can't get the increments/numbers
on the scale to come anywhere close to anyting logical in relation to 1/4"

Seems to work OK. Just to make sure of the obvious, you did not choose the
metric annotation stencil?

The scale symbol is a little weird in design. It has indicated values at
both ends, the middle (1/2 way point) and then at 3/5 of the 1/2 way point.
So, at your 1/4" scale, the most meaningful displayed results are for a scale
whose length goes to 10'. Then you get numbers: 0, 3, 5, & 10.

nope...didn'tchoose metric. Actaully got the 10' dimension to make the scale
work - not sure how you foudn that magic number thought. However, those
splits of 3/5, 1/2 etc. make absolutely no sense for an architectural
drawings - have to wind up making a manual graphci scale as I've done in the
past. But as a test, I tried a new sheet, set the scale at 1-1/2" = 1'-0 and
couldn't come close to finding the right lenght. This just doesn't work
right....or did I miss somehting again?

No, you haven't missed anything. The symbol is constructed to give "nice"
numbers only when the scale stretches to 10' or integer multiples beyond
that. It's just how the "math" works out. It's that stupid 3/5's thing.
