Scale to paper size (custom) ...

Hi all,

I notice in the Scale to paper size in Print options that there are Custom 1
to Custom 20. All the sizes are the same: 210 x 297 mm. How can I actually
customize one of these to suit my needs. (I've searched the Help but it's no
help at all).

What I am trying to do is fit 2 A4 pages on A3 paper. I get the two pages
side-by-side but want one above the other. Switching between landscape and
portrait doesn't seem to work. I figured customizing the paper size to flip a
regular A3 might do the trick?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can enlighten me!

If you want one above the other (that is, each A4 page will be landscape on
a portrait A3 sheet), then you need to select Portrait as the paper
orientation.

Hi Suzanne,

Many thanks but ... I tried that (and many other permutations) before
posting. I just *couldn't* get anything to work. I have a two-page A4
portrait document, I want one page above the other on an A3 that is is
Portrait mode. I have managed to get the A3 printing in Portrait but no
matter what I try my two original A4 pages print side by side. It's a simple
enough requirement (isn't it?) but I'm stumped.

Well the problem of course is that two A3 pages (portrait) won't fit on an
A4 portrait page. I don't see any way around that.

It's actually two A4 pages (portrait) on one A3 portrait page, one above the
other. Any glimmer of hope?

Well, I had it backward, but it still won't work. See
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-paper.html. The way these sizes work is
that each size is exactly half of the larger size, but the two halves fit
portrait on landscape or landscape on portrait. There is no conceivably way
that you can make two portrait pages fit on portrait.

Oh well, I gave it a good run for its money. (I'm an eternal optimist!).
Thanks for all your attention. I'll visit the link you sent to satisfy my
curiosity.

Best,

SR.
