Scan, OCR, MS Word and Edit?

How can I save a scanned file as a document file for editing?

I use MS Office 2003 and can scan with the tools therein, but it only saves
as TIFF and I cannot edit, even though it is a scanned Word document.

I have the Epson Perfection 1650. MS Office 2003 and Windows XP
Professional.

I answered your question in the other group. You need OCR software. You said
you have it. I suggested you read the Help file contained in that software.

Did you use MS Document Scanning? Did you tell your system to "Send text to
Word"?

Thanks. I did do of those things and it give fair results. With the built-in
OCR engine of MS.

I have downloaded now BBYYA conversion SW and it seems to do a better job
converting into a WORD document.

But I just downloaded and have run only 4 tests. Have to do more.

My OCR software does a fair-to-middling job. You are going to have to
proofread your documents carefully. I can't tell you how many times I found
"he" instead of "be" - and Word did not pick up the error.
