Scanned bitmap prints negative

I have a document with about 30 black and white images from a scanner. One of
them however prints in negative (i.e. a black background with white lines).

The image displays fine. I do a print preview, and the print preview is
fine, it is just the printout that gets messed up.

I have tried it on its own in a document

My system is Word 2003 running under XP Pro, the printer is an HP LaserJet 6P.

Any help greatfully accepted

If the problem occurs, right when you attempt to print the images out, it
sounds like a problem with your printer's ability to read the data, not Word
2003. This is just one possibility. You might try creating a different
document, to see how the printer responds, or you can try re-loading your
printer as well. Still, nothing is conclusive. Others might have different
information to offer.

Since it was 1 of about 30 imags that were scanned the same way, and the
others all printed fine, it seemed strange. In the end I scanned the same
image again, and this time it was fine.

Take your pick on what the problem was
1. H.P. Scanner or software
2. Microsoft Paint, where I removed a few stray pixels
3. Microsoft Word
4. H.P. LaserJet 6 printer driver

Anyway, thanks for your time in replying.

You're welcome. : )

You still might want to to look into the cause, which could be the sign of
corruption, in the mentioned programs. Sometimes one small error can build
into many. If the printer worked just fine, this time, then it leans towards
Word or Microsoft Paint. Hope it works out.
