Scanning from HP Scanjet 2400

I'm using Microsoft Office Document Scanning on HP Scanjet 2400. Frequently when i start to scan, it takes long time for the feeder to initialize and receive page and it ofen hangs half way though the scanning progress. Only when I restart the computer and do again then the feeder complete its scanning. I guess it may occur due to communicating problem between the feeder and the computer. I use Windown XP services Pack 1.

Please help me to solve thi

There is a diagnostics utility for your scanner on the HP web site with a February
2004 timestamp, also updates for Office 2003 as well.
