Scanning into Word

I am t rying to scan a picture into Word using Insert Picture - Scanner. The
scanner scans ok, but nothing is appearing in the document. I have a Cannon
Lide 30. Can anyone help?

Scan to a file (jpg?) and insert the file. Does that display?
If not tools > options > view > uncheck picture placeholders.
