ScanPST can't recover PST file

E

Eric

Something happened which apparently corrupted my PST file. Outlook wouldn't
start, so I had to start a new profile.

I used ScanPST on the old PST file. ScanPST completed 6 out of 8 stages,
then terminated with an error message. (Unfortunately I didn't write it down.)

What other steps can I take to recover my PST file? I see a lot of
third-party utilities that claim to do this, but I have no way of evaluating
them. Are there any that are considered better than the others?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

(Sorry - obvious questions, that I forgot to mention in my original post. In
a situation like this - where you're afraid that you've lost a bunch of
emails - it's easy to get a little distracted!)

Outlook 2003. About 900 MB.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Have you tried running scanpst.exe again to see if it errors out again? If
you do, please post the exact error message.
