Schedule crashing Project 2007 (re-post)

Roland

Sorry about the repost but am continuing to have problems.

System: 2007
Interface: Project Pro
Service Packs: Up to date
Attempted fixes: Neither resolved issue
1) Delete local cache then reopened schedule.
2) Saved the imported file to mpp prior to closing, then re-imported that
file.

Verified we are not using Norton Anti-Virus (McAfee)

I have a mpp schedule saved from 2007 which I am importing back onto the
server. The schedule imports and saves OK. However, when I try reopening
the schedule I am getting a "Microsoft has encountered a problem and has to
close." message. This message is the same reason why I am reloading the
schedule to server in the first place. I cannot access the imported
schedule. Since this message is very generic I don't know what needs to be
fixed in the mpp file to ensure this issue is corrected.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Roland,

this sounds like a corrupted schedule to me. My suggestion is save the mpp
file you have into an xml file ( save as > xml), then close the mpp file.
Open the xml file in MS project and create a new project. Save it and see if
you can reopen this file in Project Server.
hope this helps.

I have been using the Round Trip method for some time now Save As XML then
convert upload, overwriting the Project Server record. But, this week after
the Office 2007 SP2 the XML files will not open in Project 2007 I receive the
following error message: An unexpected problem occured while opening the
file. The file may be damaged. Try using a backup copy.

This seems to be a problem that was fixed in the Office 2007 SP1 release and
has now returned. Has any one also recieved this error?
