Schedule task to complete before milestone

John R. Aldrin

Hi,

I have a task that is estimated to take 6 weeks. I want to set this task up
such that it either starts 8 weeks before a milestore or finishes 2 weeks
before the milestone.

Is there a way to do this w/o specifing a specific date?

The milestone's date is a result of dependent task durations and is not
hardcoded.

Thanx

First thought is to set up a link with the milestone as the predecessor and
the task in question is the sucessor. You can either make the link
start-to-start with a lag time of -8 weeks (in other words, a lead time) or
you can make the link start-to-finish with a lag time of -2

John,
There are various ways to do what you need. One way is to use a
start-to-start link with a lead of -8w (i.e. xSS-8w). Another is to use
a start-to-finish link with a lead of -2w (i.e. xSF-2W).

Hope this helps.
John
