scheduled backup not retaining settings

Hi, in Project server 2007 I have tried to change the Scheduled Backup
settings to enable backups for some items and to increase the number of
retained versions. however when click save and then go back in to check the
settings, the changes have been lost.

Can anyone give me clues as to why?
