scheduling automated emails

Hi,

Is it possible to have a list of tasks, schedule emails to be sent as a
reminder to those assigned to the task, and then have a status report sent
automatically showing the % of completion.

It appears to me that it is possibe to schedule emails to send at a later
date using options, and that it is also possible to send a status report on a
task. What is not clear to me is whether it is possible to automate these
things. Would a macro work?

If not, does anyone have any suggestions of another program to use? Possibly
Microsoft Project??
