Scheduling full and partial resources across tasks (flex time)

I've been banging my head against the wall long enough! Appreciate any help.

I have multiple tasks assigned to a resource, Dustin. Dustin is able to
commit a maximum of 14 hours (2 days) per week to the project - not on any
particular day. Likewise, I am committed for 3 days per week (21 hours) to
the project, and my time is flex time, as well - it will be different days
and times each week.

I have found that, no matter how I play with duration, work, and
percentages, the project plan that MS Project creates does not make sense.
Furthermore, it tries to schedule me even on days I have marked as
non-working days!!

Help - what's going on?

Your last item is the easiest to deal with because it's an illusion - even
though the task's bar extends over non-working days it hasn't scheduled work
on them. The task bar simply extends from the time work starts on the task
until it is finished regardless of whether all the time in between is filled
with work or not. If a task began on Wednesday and finished in 5 days
duration, the end of the day the following Tuesday, the bar will run over
the weekend even though it is non-working time.

There are a couple of ways to handle this scenario - how long are the tasks
you and Dustin will be doing? In other words, how accurately do you need
to schedule?
