Scheduling Problem through weekend time 2 questions

1. I have resources in PWA setup to work mon-fri. But when I schedule a task
for that resource it schedules the task through the weekend. I have checked
to see if the task was ignoring the resources calendar but it isn't. Why is
it schedule the task through the weekend. The project plan is set to use a
predefined calendar from Project Server that does not have weekends as
workdays.

2. If you do not usually work weekends but sometimes you have a task or 2
that need to work through the weekend. What is the best approach to solve
this problem.

1. In the Gantt Chart view, although it appears that Project Server
schedules tasks through a weekend, the software obeys the resource's
calendar, and should only schedule the work Monday through Friday.
Therefore, where are you looking in the Microsoft Project Plan to determine
that it actually scheduled work over the weekend? And out of curiosity, you
didn't happen to set the Duration of the task in eDays (elapsed days), or
didn't happen to apply a 24-hour calendar on the task as a Task Calendar?
Let us know more about this.

2. Schedule the task normally with work Monday through Friday only. The
team member can enter Actual Work on the task on a Saturday and/or Sunday on
their timesheet in PWA.

Hope this helps.

Dale,

No elasped days are set or have been set. It only appears to be
scheduling it in the gnatt chart. I will play with it a little bit and see
what more it is doing. Is it normal for project to show a task as going
through the weekend and not creating a gap for the weekend.I will continue to
play with it so look for a reply from me.

Click View - Task Usage and I believe you will see that the software is not
scheduling Work on Saturdays and Sundays. Hope this helps.
