Hi, i am using ms2003, i have an analogy

task1 finished say 20/1/09... , need to reschedule task1 to 3yrs of finish
date.

How do i schedule task1 to start 20/1/09+3yrs while at the same time showing
that task1 completed on 20/01/09 on the same page

How can task1 finish on 20 Jan 2009, and then also be rescheduled to
finish 3 years later, e.g. 20 Jan 2012?

My hunch is that if you reword the question we can help.

If the issue that you want to show 3 years of a Gantt chart, then just
the timescale to contract the timescale.

Try your question again, it's hard to understand just what you're asking.
How could it even be possible for a task to start 3 years from today and
still finish today? Time doesn't go backwards and a task has to start
before it can finish. As you phrased your question, you're seeking to have
a task finish 3 years before it begins and it's clearly impossible for that
to happen.

Does "On the same page" mean in the list of tasks on the left hand side of
the screen or do you mean the coloured bar in the timeline on the right hand
side of the screen?

hi, what i meant here is this, lets say i repair a telephone handset, and i
have scheduled the handset repair to be completed 20/1/09. that job was
completed on 20/1/09. so i update my plan as 100% completed for 20/1/09.
However, i want someone to be able to see that this job was actually
completed on the 20/1/09 and at the same time tell the person that the next
date the same handset will be due for same time of repair will be on the
20/1/12. hope i am a bit clear now.

Then make Task2 start 3 years after task 1. In Project that would be a
link between Task1 and Task2, with a FS (Finish to Start) and a lag of
(or in days that would be 3x364 eDays (elapsed) days.

Is this a theoretical question, or are you setting up in Project to be
some sort of reminder system? If so, I sense Project not built for that.

It will if you think of them as two tasks. If a single activity occurs
multiple times, it is not one task. It is as many tasks as it has to has to
repeat.
