schoolteacher frustrated by Word

When I try to use Word 97 to type a test, it tries to
control how the questions are numbered, indented, spaced,
yada, yada, yada. How can I make it behave like an
electric typewriter? Signed, Frustrated

Uncheck most things on the AutoFormat As You Type tab (under Tools |
AutoCorrect). For more info:
