I would like to import images stored in the Word 2004 scrapbook into

To summon the Office scrapbook, choose Tools > Scrapbook (from within
Word). However, it sounds to me like you are attempting to misuse this
feature. You would probably do better with a real, general Scrapbook or
organizational utility that has nothing to do with Word. Search "scrap"
on versiontracker, for example. I have reviewed several snippet-keepers
and digital shoebox programs in TidBITS. m.

Hi John,
there is, as far as I'm aware, no direct way of doing so. You won't find the
scrapbook as such on your hard disk, since it's not a proper standalone
application. To get your pictures from the scrapbook into the clipart
gallery, you'll have to do as follows:

1) paste your image into a Word document, or any other Office application,
for that matter
2) ctrl-click (right-click) the image, and use the "Save as Picture..."
function. Save your picture somewhere on your hard disk, in a format that
you like.
3) next, open the clipart gallery in Word, Insert>Picture>Clip Art...
4) in the lower left corner, you'll see a button named "Import...". Hit that
button, and you'll be asked to locate the file you want to import. There are
different ways of importing, so if you want to move the newly created image
permanently into the clipart gallery, make sure you select either "Move into
Clip Gallery" or "Copy into Clip Gallery". I wouldn't recommend using the
link option unless you want to keep that file somewhere else on your hard
disk.
5) you'll be asked to enter additional information, which you can do if you
feel like it. Hit OK.

And that should do it. You'll have to repeat this task manually, until
you've got all the pictures you need in the clipart gallery.

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for your detailed response and the time to prepare it. This
sounds like a lot of work but I guess I will have to do it. By the way,
where are these pictures that I have stored in my Word scrapbook?

I can't tell you for sure. I guess it's somewhere deep down in the Office
2004 folder; but it could also be somewhere else. The scrapbook is a new
feature, so it hasn't been documented as well as other (older) parts of the
Office suite. Maybe someone else knows more about this.
By the way, I'll have to agree with Matt, who's also posted sometime
earlier: I think you used the scrapbook in a way that it simply is not
supposed to be used. I personally use the scrapbook as a temporary
clipboard, to store bits and pieces I might need sometime soon, and even
then, I generally tend to keep my scrapbook as clean as possible. The
scrapbook was in my opinion not built to be some kind of media browser, but
it really is an expanded version of the Office clipboard of previous Office
versions. Anyway, I hope the conversion task won't be too tedious.

By the way, where are these pictures that I have stored in my Word
scrapbook?

In your Entourage Database. Note that it's the Office scrapbook, not
specific to Word.
