How can I capture part of the screen in a ms office
application (say a menue) to paste it in a word document?

Simply press the Print Screen button at the top of your keyboard. That
places the entire screen into the clipboard. You can edit it in a paint
program or paste it directly into another app.

There are also third-party screen capture utilities that offer more control.
Check out the downloads section of www.pcworld.com.

Granted, that captures the window with focus, but he *may* still need to
edit. Thanks for adding that option, though-- I'd forgotten.

Hit the PrintScreen button, Paste into Word, crop to size leaving only
the desired portion of the captured screen. (If the menu was not
involved you could use Alt-Printscreen to capture just the Active Window)
