Screen Clipping not transparent, white screen

When I try to get a screen clipping the screen is opaque white instead of
treansparent and the clips that I take are black. It's worked for a while.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?

What are you trying to do?
And how?

When calling the screen-capture feature the screen gets opaque.
One can then select the area which shall be captured.
It works like that by default.

What am I missing?

Opaque, meaning I can't see what's on my screen, it's White, NOT TRANSPARENT.
You should be able to see what you're clipping, not just a blank white
screen. And when I try to guess at where the image is I want to clip, I just
get a black rectangle copied to my clipboard, no screen image.

Unfortunately I do have no idea on what might be happening on your
system :-(

How about the drivers for your graphics adapter?

I'm having the same problem too. For a while, the program worked, then for
a while, i got annoyed by it always starting up everytime, so I used MSconfig
to turn it off. Now, when I bring the program up to use it, the
screencapture function does the same thing you were saying. I've tried
setting it back to start up with the rest of the computer, but that doesn't
seem to help

I am having the same problem and so is another user who submitted feedback on
the onenote page.. I run office 2007 and tried detect and repair as well.. I
run into the same problem with one note 2007 with two monitors (laptop
screen+external display) running at a 1950*1200 resolution.. Works fine when
i have a single default LCD of the laptop.. Also to add, when i go ahead with
the screen capture of the white/blank screen, the captured area is black.

Same thing happens to me.

I use two monitors, one at 1920x1200 and the other at 1680x1050. It
sometimes work, meaning I get the opaque screen, when I just turn on
the computer. Then it stops working after I load a bunch of progams.
Nomally it stops working after I open sever acrobat documents.

My workaround, is that I go momentarily to single mode mode, do the
screen capture and then go to dual monitor.

It appears that it is running out of memory, so going to single mode
seems to do the trick.

I am also having this issue on a laptop running Windows Vista SP1 with
OneNote 2007 SP1. The laptop has plenty of memory (3GB) and I am not even
close to the breaking point there.

I am running at 1920 x 1280 resolution... this was working just fine up
until about a week ago.

Anyone have any idea as to what actualy is causing the problem?

Have either of you tried running the Task Manager and seeing what your
memory usage is just before starting the screen clip?

I have been experiencing the same intermittent issue described in this thread
in both ON2003 and ON2007, for a few years now, on three different computers
(all windows XP), irrespective of whether single or dual display is used.
This is very annoying.

It is so intermittent that I could never pinpoint what application triggers
the issue when launched before/after/alongside ON. Sometimes, rebooting the
PC is the only way to get the clipping tool functioning again.

I have used this feature for quite a while, it is invaluable to me.

The same two monitors, have worked all of this time and now quit working.

Could not find a fix on the Microsoft website or on several of the forums. the good news is that I tried to update the driver on my Display Adapter and it "failed". As a result I went directly to the NVIDIA website downloaded the newest driver for my NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT. I used their tool to analyze the driver I needed. Worked great, however, during the installation it was a little unnerving since, there were several error messages and of course the screen(s) blacked out, even got another "installation failed" message. However, I waited and waited...and just let the issues work themselfs out.

Am happy to report it worked....One note iw working properly again. Screen clippings are back on track.

In case it might be helpful, I have a DELL XPS running Windows Vista Premimum, One Note 2007.

Good Luck.
