Screen clips don't paste to Word 2007 doc

I can't paste a screen clipping into a Word 2007 document, but I can into a
Wordpad doc. Do I need to do something in Word 2007 to have the clipping
show up? And just what is a clipping anyway? Properties say it's an image
metafile. Can I make it a jpg or some other more common image file?
