Screen DISTORTION everytime I use word

My Monitor /screen distorts everytime I open a word 2000 document.
The Monitor/screen works fine in EVERY program including video, internet
browse, adobe, etc. However when I open a word 2000 document and te a few key
strokes the screen distorts with a red color , double image and blury. I
reboot and it is fine again until I run a word 2000 document again.
I have tried repairing the Office 2000 from the control panel. no luck.
Doubt it is a video card or driver problem becuase it works fine all other
programs. Very confused and not very computer savy.
