I don't know what causes this, but when I try to give a PowerPoint presentation and plug my laptop into an LCD projector, almost every time the resolution on both my laptop and the projector drops to something very low when I start up PowerPoint. I'm not totally sure that's when it first happens. I want to be able to switch back and forth between PP and Photoshop during a presentation, and I find that no matter what settings I've set up with System Preferences/Display, the settings have changed to something so low that my laptop screen can't even accomodate the Photoshop menus. Any idea of why, and what can be done? This happened on older Mac and I think on even older PP.

My guess is that it is the resolution defined by the projector. Most
communicate to the video card and negotiate a common ground.
