Screen-saver passwords

When I went to see how to put up a password for my screen
saver, the password protect box wasn't there for me to
check. I want to password protect my screen saver but if
i cant check the box because its not there, then how do i
do it?.. For example the directions say to pick a screen
saver and then check the on resume box and password
protect box, on my computer i only have the on resume
show welcome screen box and i have windows Xp- how do i
lock my screen saver?!- PLEASE answer!
