Screen Scraping

I posted a message yesterday, and thanks to those who responded, but
at the time I didn't know the correct terms to use. Apparently there
is a method called screen scraping? What I want to accomplish is to
have my fields in my Access Form populated from another program that
is open and running. The other system might be mainframe but it might
not be. It would be text and not images.

What I want to do is figure out how to program something to capture
text off the screen and populate certain fields in my database. This
way the user doesn't need to retype the same information that is on
the screen already.


Has anyone done anything like this?

If you know where the video buffer of the mainframe application is, then you
could retrieve the characters from there and write them into the appropriate
table in your database.
