screen tips don't display in Word X

I am a new user of Word X. Previously I have used Word 2000 (for
PC's.) In Word 2000, to get a ScreenTip to display, I would first
create a bookmark for the specified word or text, then create a
hyperlink for the word or text back to the list of bookmarks created
for that document, then specify the ScreenTip text I want displayed
when I roll the cursor over the hyperlinked text. In Word X, I follow
the same procedure but then can't get the ScreenTips to display when I
roll the cursor over the hyperlinked text. If I click on the
hyperlinked text, I get the message "Cannot open the specified file."

Hmm...

Your method works for me in Word v.X and Word04. Here's what I did:

1) Enter text in a blank document ("The quick brown fox.")
2) Select the word "quick" and choose Insert/Bookmark... Name the
bookmark "mybkmk"
3) Choose Insert/Hyperlink. Click the Document tab. Click the Locate
button.
4) In the dialog that opens, click the triangle next to the word
"Bookmarks". Select "mybkmk". Click OK. Note that the "Link To:" listbox
contains "#mybkmk".
5) Click Screentips. Enter "rapid, intelligent". Click OK. Click OK.

The document now contains a hyperlink that displays the screentip
"rapid, intelligent" when the word "quick" is hovered over. When
clicked, the hyperlink causes the cursor to move to the beginning of the
word "quick".

What is different for you?
