screen up/down

Is there a shortcut key in Word 2002 that will navigate
one screen up or down? I know you can do that with the
mouse and the vertical bar, but is there a keyboard way to
navigate by screen? thanks.

PageUp and PageDown do exactly that -- one screen up, one screen down. Or,
are you looking for something different? If so, then describe what action
you peform with the mouse & vertical bar, and I can tell you if there is a
corresponding keystroke.

Note that PageUp and PageDown are the same as clicking in the vertical
scrollbar between the scrollbox and top of the scrollbar (for up) and
between the scrollbox and the bottom of the scrollbar (for down).

Page up and page down are tied to moving pages up and down
not screens up and down on the computer I use.

In the list of moving-in-document commands in the
customize menu, I see nothing about moving screens up and
down, which are not the same as pages.

thanks, Joe

By default, the PageUp and PageDown keys in Word do shift the view by one
screen up or down. Perhaps your keys have been reassigned.

How do I re-assign them, and then set up page up and page
down on other keys too. I would like both. thanks

Sounds like you've got the Page up/Down set to a Ctrl-PageUp/Down which
gives the effect you describe.
Try;
Tools->Customize->Options
Click the "Keyboard" button and "follow the yellow brick road"

Regards;
Rob

Tools> Customize> Keyboard-> All Commands-> PageDown.
Click in the New Shortcut Key box and press the PageDown
key. You'll see "Currently assigned to GoToNextPage"
under the box. Click Assign. Now find GoToNextPage in
the command list and in the New Shortcut Key box type
the hotkey combination you want to use for it and click
Assign. Repeat all of this for PageUp/GoToPreviousPage.

Yes, it is confusing. That's one reason I trashed mine and
use PgUp and PgDown to advance by actual pages. And yes,
Screen Up and Screen Down are odd; I've never figured out
how to massage it just right. Most people just scroll with
a wheelmouse -- not as nice from my POV, but at least it's
dependable.
