script changes to mailmerge data source

I have about 350 mailmege word 97 document templates. The data source path will need to be changed often. Is there a way of scripting the change of data source path without opening each document and changing it manually?

I don't think you will be able to do this without automating Word. Except
that if the data sources can always be linked using ODBC, you /might/ be
able to use a file DSN to provide an indirect pointer to the folder
containing the data source you really want. I haven't tried that recently.
But even using that method, Word will look for the .dsn file in a specific
directory which you could not change programmatically without automating
Word.
