Script editor inserts tag into my code!

I do a lot of asp vbscripting, and therefore would like use the Script
Editor in Front Page 2003 which I recently upgraded from 2000 and Visual
InterDev6). But I've found that whenever I switch from Front Page to the
Script Editor or save a page in the Script Editor while Front Page is open,
it inserts the following tag into my code:

<base href="http://myserver/mypage" fptype="true">

This is bad, because I work on a test server and then publish the page onto
the live server. And I don't want all my links pointing to the test server
(which is what happens if I don't manually delete this tag).

Is there a way to prevent Script Editor from doing this?

Thanks,

Once you've saved the page in the Script Editor and closed the Script
Editor, once you've returned to FrontPage and touched the page, that line
should have been removed.

I first discovered this when the links on the home page of our Intranet all
started going to pages on the test server after I had edited and saved the
page in Front Page and Script Editor and then published it to the live
server. So apparently saving the page didn't help in that case.

What I want to know is: Why is that tag put in there in the first place?

According to
http://www.microsoftfrontpage.com/content/ARTICLES/HighendScriptinFP02.html
When you make changes to your FrontPage 2002-based web page in the Script
Editor, you are actually changing a separate copy of the HTML document.
These changes can end up out of sync with the FrontPage copy. To sync the
changes you made to the other copy of the page open in FrontPage, click
Refresh in the View menu.
