Hi, I'm getting a lot of Chinese/Taiwanese spam. I'ts all in a Asian character set so I was wondering if there is a script that can block email based on the type of character set(s).

You can create a Rule (Tools menu) that acts on any Internet header.
Take a look at the full headers (Message > Source) of some of these
junk emails to find any common elements at the top.

Thanks Adam. I know how to make a rule but with your solution I'll end up making tons of rules. Or do I misunderstand your solution? However, I do have some some serious contacts in China. Those people use a western character set and I don't want to end up blocking them as well.

The JMF never assigns messages from contacts in your Address Book to the
Junk category so your rules should not affect those messages.

Here are some examples of rules using character sets.

I suggest giving SpamSieve a demo. It's excellent.

Excellent Diane. Thanks! I implemented the Korean example but where can I find the codes for the Chinese and Taiwanese character sets?

the codes for the Chinese and Taiwanese character sets?

If they are not listed on that page, then I'm not sure. The Entourage Junk
filter is so much better than when I posted that info that it's hardly used
anymore.

Did you try googling it?

Just wait until you actually get one and view the message source.

Thanks Diane and Adam. I got another one this morrning so 've looked in the header and found the used character set and added that to the rule I created based on Diane's example. I'll have to wait a few days to see how well this works. Thanks again!
