Scroll bar goes screwy

I'm trying to jump up through a document file using the mouse and the Page
Up/Page Down function on the Scroll Bar. I'm using Word 2007 in
"Compatibility Mode."

As I'm clicking on the empty, greyish space for the bar to go up, all of a
sudden the bar freezes. The box will not move up, and the screen just
flickers as I press and press and press. Finally, I have to press the Scroll
Arrow before it will start working properly again.

Any thoughts?
